AV Technology
AVT offer a comprehensive noise emissions testing and certification service in line with their Notified Body status.
The European Parliament published the Noise Directive 2000/14/EC in 2000 bringing together several directives that had been in place before. 2000/14/EC has been implemented into UK National Law with the introduction of Statutory Instrument 2001/1701 and amendment. The regulations detail specific noise level requirements for 57 different types of machinery from a small garden trimmer up to very large Earth Moving machinery and also include diverse pieces of plant including Wheelie Bins and Glass Recycling Containers (Bottle Banks). Note: Directive 2000/14/EC has been amended with Directive 2005/88/EC introduced in 2006.
The Directive contains two lists of equipment shown in Articles 12 & 13. Equipment listed in Article 12 must meet specific noise limits and must be marked with their guaranteed sound power level. Complying with this part of the Directive requires notified body involvement, either to approve a manufacturer's quality control system or approve the noise tests performed on the product.
Equipment listed in Article 13 is not subject to noise limits, but must still be marked with its guaranteed sound power level. This equipment can be self-certified by following the test procedures and documentation requirements set out in the Directive and harmonized standards.
All types of equipment covered by this Directive require a technical file, a declaration of conformity and the products to be marked with the CE logo. Uniquely, a copy of the declaration of conformity containing the noise test results must be sent to the European Commission and national governments of EU states in which the product was declared.
